Helping the community by donating Christmas Hampers to local foodbank

One of the amazing festive activities we have at Cowley Academy is to give something back to the local community by creating ‘Christmas Hampers’ for people who need to use the local foodbank in Boston.

Last year we donated 25 hampers generously packed full of festive cheer. When all of these small items come together in one hamper – it becomes a very generous and appreciated gift at a time of year when some people may be lonely or in need.

Each form will have the same sized box to dress in their very own Christmas theme, whether that is using wrapping paper or painting and decorating. Then students in each form are asked to donate an item to put in the hamper. We would like to thank Warners Group Printers in Bourne for kindly donating these boxes to use.

The Christmas hampers are scheduled to be delivered to the local foodbank in the last full week of term so everyone should bring in their donations by Monday 11th December 2023 at the latest.

With the cost of living crisis making it harder for people, the foodbank in Boston need even more donations at this time a year. The foodbank is run by volunteers and supports people due to a variety of factors such as homelessness, unemployment, low income, domestic violence and sickness.
