Summer Showcase features an evening of music and drama

Our talented music and performing arts students from Years 7 to 11 performed a musical and drama spectacular for our end of year school production that was watched by family and friends.

The first part of the evening featured the KS3 Drama Group who performed a specially adapted musical version ‘The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and The Horse’ by Charlie Mackesy. This heart-warming gentle story of kindness, friendship, courage and hope was thoroughly enjoyed by the whole audience.

We were then treated to songs from the stage and screen from hit musicals and movies such as: We Will Rock You, Hairspray, 9 to 5 The Musical, School of Rock, Hannah Montana and Footloose. All of the students involved had been busy rehearsing for this event and their hard work certainly paid off with some exceptional performances.

As well as all of the amazing performers on stage, special mentions go to Joshua Merrison in Year 10 who expertly compered the evening, Poppy Dunning in Year 8 and Lexie Smith in Year 10 who were part of the pit band as well as Miss Sanderson (Head of Music), Ms Millard (Head of Performing Arts) and all the staff who dedicate their time in rehearsals and planning this spectacular event.

It is events like this that creates lasting memories for our students and their families as well as opportunities for students to develop confidence and performance skills.
