Dear parents / carers,
My name is Glenn Martin and I am the new Head of School for Cowley Academy. Previously, I was the Co-Principal in a Secondary School in Northamptonshire and have been the Interim Head of School at The Thomas Cowley High School since May 2022.
I grew up in South Holland and know the history of the school and my family are still very much part of the community. As a father to two school-age children myself, I know that parents/carers will want a period of stable and consistent leadership.
I feel immensely privileged to have been given the opportunity to take the school forward into a new, positive era. I am passionate to lead the school community forward supported by Mrs Conley, Executive Headteacher and the South Lincolnshire Academies Trust team.
We want Cowley Academy students to enter the world beyond compulsory education happy, healthy, employable and with a positive view of the world. We achieve this with an unwavering focus on academic excellence, and unapologetically high expectations of student behaviour and engagement. Students are encouraged to aim high in their learning, academic success and personal development. We firmly believe that students learn best in a safe, happy and supportive environment.
At Cowley Academy we believe in an inclusive environment where students are treated equally and with mutual respect. We recognise that every individual is unique, and we encourage individually and challenging stereotypes, whilst demonstrating a commitment to removing barriers to learning. We provide consistent support, guidance and challenge to help your child become well rounded, thoughtful and responsible members of the local and wider community.
Our insistence on core fundamentals such as a smart appearance, good punctuality and attendance, and a willingness to always try your best creates a mindset to support students’ development in their journey as young adults.
I look forward to meeting you and working with you and your family.
Kindest regards,
Mr Glenn Martin
