Keeping Year 8 students safer with a whole day of PSHE workshops
Spalding Academy delivers a comprehensive PSHE (Personal, Social, Health & Economic) programme to educate students about a variety of topics, which are age appropriate for each Year group.
Last week, our Year 8 students had a Multi-Agency Day in partnership with the Stay Safe Partnership at Lincolnshire County Council where guest speakers from five different external organisations delivered workshops on themes relating to staying safe.
Students took part in all of the following five sessions throughout the school day:
- Online Safety by Lincolnshire County Council
- Fire Safety by Lincolnshire Fire & Rescue
- Healthy Relationships by Lincolnshire Domestic Abuse Partnership
- Alcohol & Drug Awareness by We Are With You
- Anti-Social Behaviour with Hate Crime by Lincolnshire Police
The aim of the day was to improve the personal safety of our students to help them make informed choices by understanding the consequences of their actions on themselves, their families and the community.
Thank you to all of the organisations who took the time to speak to our students as these PSHE days form an important part of our curriculum. It was fantastic to see how engaging our students were in each of the sessions as they interacted in a professional and mature manner.
