Girls Futsal Team compete in first inter-school tournament

Our Year 7 and 8 students travelled to Haven High School in Boston to take part in their first ever Superzone Girls Futsal Tournament, which featured twelve schools from across South Lincolnshire.
Futsal is similar to 5-a-side indoor football but uses a smaller and heavier ball making it a fast paced and skilful game. Playing Futsal can also develop close control ball techniques which can improve performance when playing traditional football.
It was a great experience for our students as it was the first time the school had entered and as the competition was for Year 8, some of our students were playing against girls who are the year above.
We had our hardest game first against Boston High School which we lost 4-0, but soon made up for it by demonstrating excellent team spirit and determination with victories against William Lovell Academy, who we beat 3-2 and University Academy Holbeach where we scored some amazing goals to win 3-1.
Every single student played incredibly well and we came seventh place overall and just missed out on the knockout stages of the competition. A special mention goes to Jasmine Bavetta and Gracie-May Tew who were our players of the tournament.
