PGL netball weekend was full of adrenalin activities and games
Earlier this term, Mrs Dunn and Miss Carter from the PE department arranged a packed weekend of netball and adventure activities for 12 of our dedicated netball players at PGL in Boreatton Park near Shrewsbury.
As part of this fun activity-based weekend, there was a netball tournament where we had two teams (U13 and U14) compete against other schools from across the country as far as Birmingham, Northumbria, Cheshire and Yorkshire. This provided a great opportunity for students to benefit from teambuilding as they could bond on and off the court.
Our U13 team consisted of Maddie, Chloe, Jess, Isla, Keira and Poppy who showed fantastic teamwork and resilience throughout the whole tournament. Joining them were U14 team of Gracie, Tallulah, Brooke, Megan, Kitana and Vilte, who brought experience and determination to every match.
The netball tournament consisted of six matches over two days where our teams were aiming to get enough points to qualify for the semi-finals and finals. The netball games were tough and highly competitive, with all teams pushing themselves to perform at their best. Whilst we did not reach the semi-finals, a standout moment of the weekend was our victory against Spalding Academy, which was a huge achievement and a highlight for the whole group.
Special mentions go to Gracie-May Tew, who was awarded Coaches’ Player of the Tournament for her outstanding performance, leadership and attitude, and to Kitana Kravcuk, who was voted Players’ Player of the Tournament for her impressive performance as Goalkeeper.
Beyond the netball courts, students embraced a wide range of adrenalin filled adventure and leisure activities including zip lining, trapeze, rifle shooting, giant swing, abseiling, rock climbing, a silent disco and sports day-style games. Students showed enjoyment, courage, bravery, friendship and had a wonderful time trying all the activities with their friends.
Overall, despite some wet weather, it was a fantastic weekend full of sport, fun, challenges, friendship and comradery. Our students were incredible ambassadors for the school who made it a special weekend with unforgettable memories. Well done to all involved!
