Rugby fans were official flag bearers for Premiership clash
Last weekend, the PE department organised a memorable trip for a group of rugby fans as they went to watch Leicester Tigers vs Bristol Bears in a Gallagher Premiership clash.
The game itself was amazing as they saw Leicester Tigers secure a 33-19 victory ending with a Leicester try in the final few seconds of the game. The students also got to see England stars like Freddie Steward, Ollie Chessum and Ellis Genge in action, which offered invaluable inspiration.
The highlight of the day was the pre-match ceremony as our students were official flag bearers for the match where they formed a guard of honour as the teams emerged from the tunnel. Our students stood tall waving the Tigers’ colours with pride as the roar of the 23,000-strong crowd filled the stadium.
Mrs Dunn, Head of PE said “This unique opportunity gave our young players a literal ‘pitch-side’ view of the intensity and physical stature of professional rugby, providing a memory that will stay with them for years to come. It was a memorable experience for our budding rugby stars to watch international players and analyse professional-level set pieces, line-speed, and tactical kicking.”
