Court 1 at Wimbledon serves up top matches for tennis enthusiasts
Our PE department were served up some good luck once again as they were successful for the second year running in securing tickets via the Wimbledon schools ballot.
This meant that we could take a lucky group of eight tennis enthusiasts to experience to thrill of world-class tennis when they attended the prestigious Wimbledon Championships.
Having secured tickets for Court 1 meant that they were going to see some excellent matches as they watched Sonay Kartal beat Diane Parry with the highlight being British player Cameron Norrie beating Mattia Bellucci.
During the trip, the students had the chance to explore the Wimbledon grounds, observe players warming up on outer courts, and participate in various activities at the American Express Fan Experience. Additionally, students had the option to purchase souvenirs from the shop and indulge in the classic Wimbledon treat of strawberries and cream
Mr Brader, Teacher of PE said “It was an incredible opportunity for our students to see elite athletes compete at the highest level and experience the rich history and traditions of the world’s oldest tennis tournament. We know that this memorable day will continue to inspire our students interest in this sport. Everyone had a brilliant experience and students behaviour was exemplary.”
