Year 8 Boys are undefeated to be crowned SLAT Summer Games Winners

Our Year 8 students were first to compete in the SLAT Summer Sports Games where the boys played cricket and the girls played rounders against the other schools in our Trust.

The tournament was held at Spalding Academy as this location is central for all of the schools to travel to and host all of the participating students.

As massive congratulations to the Year 8 boys who were crowned the SLAT Games Winners as they have a very successful evening playing some fantastic cricket as they won all three of their games.

This is a fantastic achievement by all eight students who represented the school. The player of the tournament goes to Lewis White for his consistency with his bowling picking up three wickets across alll three games and brilliant captaincy when fielding.

Special mentions also go to Kenzie Hewitt and Ethan Kirk for brilliant bowling picking up two wickets between them and to Thomas Stenton and Sonny Ilic for hitting 6s with the bat to help win the final game by one run.

For the girls rounders team, it was an incredibly close tournament where they showed great team spirit. They lost their first two games against Spalding Academy and Giles Academy, but showed their determination as they won their final game against Bourne Academy. The final placing came down to how many rounders were scored as Cowley, Bourne and Spalding all tied on points. Unfortunately, we came 4th but it was incredibly close between the three of us. Special mentions go to Jorgie Marsters, Jessie Firth and Cecilia Mendy.
