Open Evening welcomes over 1,000 visitors to visit our school

Our annual Open Evening proved to be one of the most popular local events as we welcomed over 1,000 visitors coming from Donington and surrounding towns and villages.
We would like to thank every parent/carer and student from Years 4 to 6 who attended and made this event such a vibrant and enjoyable atmosphere. There was a real community spirit throughout the whole evening as so many families were pleased to see each other as they explored the school.
It was so rewarding for the staff and students in the whole school to see how enthusiastic the students in Years 4 to 6 and their parents/carers were as they viewed all of the different subject areas, led by our team of dedicated student tour guides.

With a capacity audience in the school hall and so many people eager to visit on the evening, our main presentations with Mrs Curson, Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Mrs Kilby, Head of School started 15 minutes earlier than scheduled and we run many subsequent presentations due to so many visitors attending throughout the evening. These talks provided parents/carers with a real insight into the school and the feedback afterwards shows how much they appreciate being able to hear from the Trust leadership.
We would like to thank every one of the Cowley Academy students who were amazing on the evening as they were so enthusiastic and passionate about wanting to represent the subject areas and show families around the school.

Flynn Howells and Amelia Hussain in Year 7 did a fantastic job speaking so confidently in the main hall during the presentation and Tyler Sedgewick in Year 11 kept the audience entertained with mesmerising solo keyboard performances.
The Open Evenings provide the perfect opportunity for parents/carers to really find out about the school as there is no substitute to seeing it in person. On the evening we received so many positive comments from parents/carers who attended and it was a pleasure to see so many smiling faces.
